Encapsulating My Life

Tue Nov 24, 2009, 1:06 AM
  • Mood: Wow!
  • Listening to: two clocks ticking in tandem corrugated heartbeat
  • Reading: my outlines
  • Watching: an unused apple corer and earl grey tea
  • Playing: naught but a sweet melody in my head
  • Eating: chicken and swiss on oat bread

"The worst part about it– for us, at least– isn’t just the hiding. It’s the feeling that no matter where we go, all of our “allies” who would defend us against all oppression in one regard would be just as willing to turn and throw us to the oppressors if they knew about another certain difference or experience of ours, so it can feel like there is almost no one we can really trust, not anywhere, not ever. And that almost no one will ever really know the totality of what our life is, because there will always be some part of it censored out of our telling of it, for fear of that. That what people think they like or admire or whatever is the censored, deliberately oversimplified version of our life, not the real one."

This pretty much encapsulates perfectly the last ten years of my life. I will probably add something more to elaborate later. I seem to be have been catching sick, something from when I visited the health center (I knew it was a stupid idea).

If you conform, you are only helping yourself. If you express your individuality, you are inspiring others to do the same, and can eventually change those around you, if not the world.

Yes, it's one of the many instruments I'd like to be able to play. (The others I can think of being violin, oboe, trumpet, and cello; I already can play piano, clarinet, and guitar, although I don't play guitar that well and just recently started clarinet but am a very quick learner on that).
